Like most people, the Sure Flow Equipment Team loves to be warm in the winter. We heat our 100,000 square foot manufacturing facility and warehouse with natural gas. A lot of people in North America stay warm with natural gas.
The challenge is that you can’t hope to just produce the gas when you need it, so ultimately some must be produced in months when customers aren’t consuming it, so it’s available once the cold weather hits. It must be stored, and often this is underground.
Sure Flow Equipment is proud to be part of that process with one of our recent custom fabricated projects.
This 6-inch DB600 fabricated dual basket strainer assembly will end up as part of the equipment used to store natural gas underground.
It is fabricated from carbon steel.
It features a compact design with offset inlet and outlet connections that are used in many of our custom fabricated projects.
It includes high performance lug style butterfly valves complete with gear operators for isolating the strainers and cleaning the baskets.
Sure Flow Equipment has been in the strainer business for more than three decades now. During that time one of the features of our products we’ve emphasized with customers is protection and uptime. In so many industrial processes production downtime can be catastrophic, so ensuring that the equipment that keeps the whole process moving is protected is critical.
Often with processes that use liquids, this is pumping equipment. But with most line production there are a whole variety of pumps and valves and equipment that foreign particles and debris can damage. Damage equals expense, but more critical is the time required to get that essential equipment to the location and installed to get production back up and running.
In the case of this custom fabricated dual basket strainer it will be used to protect a brine transfer pump that is used in the natural gas underground storage process. And most importantly this unit allows the operator to transfer the liquid flow to the other side which allows them to clean the basket strainer that has been doing the work.
The result. Expensive, critical downstream equipment protected, with NO downtime.
Sure Flow Equipment really appreciates all our customers and gets particularly excited about a project like this that indirectly affects something that’s critical in our business, natural gas for heat in the winter!
We’re heading into the summer as we write this, but when the Team comes into work next winter and removes those winter clothes and gets to work, we will be very grateful for the people out there producing and storing natural gas! We’re very glad to be doing our part in the process.
